For anyone who knows me, they know I love a good afternoon tea session. If there was an Olympic event for Afternoon Tea-ing, I would be right up there winning Gold and eating all the scones.
So with a well over due catch up with the best friend in need, we decided to head out of the city to The New House Country Hotel. And what a pleasant surprise it was.
A beautiful building nestled amongst green fields and overlooking Cardiff, this is easily a place with one of the best views in town. We set up camp inside right next to the bay windows meaning we could enjoy the stunning view in comfort – we seemed to have chosen a perfect day to venture out here as the sun was shining and the sky was blue – meaning we had a clear view of the city.
The afternoon tea itself was delightful, and I don’t use that word lightly. Perfectly fluffy finger sandwiches, scrumptious scones and an array of different sweet cakes – my particular favourite was the white and milk chocolate mousse. Man, I forgot how good mousse was. Such an underrated dessert.
Having officially run out of topics to catch up on and armed with another pot of tea, we ventured outside to enjoy the rest of the crisp winter afternoon. Sitting outside? In Wales? In October? And it’s not raining? Madness.
Afternoon tea is the best. I tell a lie. Afternoon tea with a view, is the best.
