The Wonderful Whitsundays

Possibly one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia, the Whitsunday Islands are a must see destination when travelling the East Coast.

On board a three day and two night boat, Tongarra, we explored the Whitsunday Islands, snorkelling the crystal seas, sunbathing on the white sands and sleeping on the open deck. It does all sound very magical the way I’m describing it and for the most part- with the paradise beaches and the sapphire seas -it was. However, Tongarra was a very basic, very budget trip with one minute cold showers and sleeping on a cramped deck. Still, can’t complain really, it was all well worth it to see the islands.

Despite the horrific downpour of rain on the first night, the second day of exploration of the beach and a snorkel was a beautiful, dazzling day. We sunbathed on the beach and submerged ourselves in the crystal clear water. Honestly, the closest thing to paradise I have ever seen.

The pictures explain it all really.

Back From The World

So, hello there, it’s been a while.

It’s been about four months since my last post – when I was sunning myself in Cairns having spent 7 months in Melbourne. I was at the beginning of the East Coast, all wide eyed and bushy tailed and ready for my adventure.

Cut to now, four months later, and I am back home in Cardiff and I am freezing.

A lot has happened in these past few months, I have seen some amazing things, met some awesome people and done some pretty cool things. Now, nearly a week since I returned home, my year away seems like a lifetime ago, something that happened to someone else. It’s back to reality. And reality is freezing. And penniless. I have honestly never been so poor, but hey, I had some fun.

So, since we last spoke, there’s been 5 countries – Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore – and within those, 21 different destinations, each as interesting and memorable as the last. It’s been a whirlwind four months and whilst of course, there have been some downs, it’s probably been one of the best times of my life, filled with memories I’ll never forget.

I won’t Blog about every place I went, but I’ll try my best to write down my major highlights.

Thanks for bearing with me, I won’t be so long next time.
